Check out the fun we had on Thursday night at the Indiana Youth Services Association’s Blind Pig Event, benefiting the Make Good Decisions Initiative. As you can see by the pictures, fun was had by all! Fresh Figs Marketing has been honored to sponsor this event each year, and we would like to share with you why we support this cause.
With so many worthwhile programs to support, it can be difficult to decide where to focus one’s philanthropic efforts. Unfortunately, the Make Good Decisions Initiative clearly stood out for us. In 2012, good friends of Jennifer’s and her neighbors suffered a devastating loss. One week before he was meant to leave for his freshman year of college, their son Brett died from the over-consumption of alcohol. Click here to read Brett’s story. Theirs is a story close to home for every parent of a teenager, whose inclination is to test the limits. The Make Good Decisions Initiative seeks to educate teens about the dangers of underage drinking and destructive behaviors. Also included in their mission is to make sure teens understand Indiana’s Lifeline Law, allowing those who call 911 for medical help to be protected from arrest for underage drinking. No one should die because the people who want to help are afraid. Brett’s parents, Dawn and Norm Finbloom, have made it their goal to keep it from happening again.
While the Blind Pig event is something we enjoy every year, we are always mindful of why we are there. To learn more about the Make Good Decisions Initiative, visit http://www.indysb.org/make-good-decisions.
