I was introduced to the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival in 2012 and immediately placed it on my calendar of annual must-dos. Lotus is three and a half days of music and art, performed or displayed mostly outside in Downtown Bloomington. It is THE opportunity to hear music from all over the world. Unless you are the kind of music buff that takes the time to search the web for international musicians, Lotus is the best way to expand your musical horizons. Who knew there were Swedish rap bands? And I certainly did not know that “Yiddish Punk Cabaret” existed. Reggae, fiddles, horn bands, jazz – you will hear it all at Lotus. And you will do this wandering the streets of Bloomington with other new music seekers. Finally, they serve good beer. What is there not to love about Lotus?!
The Fresh Figs Marketing staff is a lover of the arts, and many of our company outings encompass introducing each other to the art forms or events we enjoy. It is only fitting that we become a community sponsor of Lotus, supporting an event dedicated to celebrating musicians and artists. We will be there, dancing under the tents and finding our new favorite bands. Whether it is just for one day, or for the whole event, we hope to see you there too!
